Two thousand litres of Quintus were brewed in October on-site at Mount Saint Bernard Trappist Brewery (MSB) in Coalville, with the successful kegging of six hundred litres representing MSB’s first foray into kegging. Quintus received an overwhelmingly positive reception in the market, with its popularity seeing it sell out within one month of its November release.
Brewery Manager for MSB, Peter Grady, spoke to the success of the collaboration stating, “We are frequently approached to partner for special releases – as a not-for-profit, we are mindful of ensuring the integrity of our mission is never compromised. Our two breweries have built deserved reputations for quality and innovation, so when the time came to choose a partner for our first collaboration, Round Corner was a natural choice. Quintus was conceived as a celebration of the friendship between two proudly independent Leicestershire organisations who share a commitment to local produce and a passion for our community. We are thrilled with its success.”
At the time of writing, Quintus was had been recognised by craft beer connoisseurs as one of the highest performing ESB’s on Untappd, the world’s largest open-source community for reviewing beers and breweries.
Combie Cryan, Co-Founder at Round Corner Brewing, said: “We’re passionate about our product, brewery, and community. Quintus was an expression of both that passion and our commitment to quality – clearly, those who know the difference between spin and craftmanship agreed. To have had the chance to partner with MSB was an honour, with the result a worthy reflection of what our two proud organisations produce.”
With Quintus comprehensively exceeding expectations, the two breweries are already well advanced in their discussions of future projects, however are keeping details tightly under wraps.
