Mount Saint Bernard Trappist Brewery (MSB) is pleased to announce the launch this April of Tynt Meadow Blond. Following a successful pre-release in January 2024, Tynt Meadow Blond is now taking its place alongside Tynt Meadow, their internationally renowned dark ale.
Since the revival of brewing at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in the 21st century, the Brewery in Coalville, Leicestershire now regularly produces over 1,000 hectolitres annually of its famous ale which is distributed throughout British and international markets. MSB is the only Trappist Brewery in England and the United Kingdom and one of just nine worldwide.
Brewery Manager for MSB, Peter Grady, spoke to the addition of Tynt Meadow Blond as a stablemate for their established Trappist Ale Tynt Meadow, stating, “It is rare for a Trappist Brewery to launch a new addition to its core range. Our very premise is predicated upon the solemn production of the ales synonymous with our order, with Trappist beers having earned their reputation from their centuries long tradition of Cistercian ale-making, using closely guarded recipes in a time-honoured process. Tynt Meadow Blond has been thoughtfully created to pay homage to this tradition, representing both a classical interpretation yet uniquely Trappist take on this ever-popular mid-strength ale.”
Tynt Meadow Blond successfully received its Authentic Trappist Product (ATP) trademark from the International Trappist Association (ITA) in March, clearing the way for its commercial launch. The ITA unites nineteen Trappist Abbeys worldwide, and is responsible for ensuring quality, integrity, and standards of excellence for Trappist products.
Where Tynt Meadow, with its amber hue and distinctive depth of flavour, is a classic strong, dark ale, its Blond cousin is closely related in composition if not in style. “The Blond uses the exact same ingredients as our famous Tynt Meadow, however, brings a zesty, sharper twist on the original classic,” added Mr Grady, concluding “It carefully balances vanilla, mandarin and lemon, with gentle hints of orange and sherbet. After the solemn observance of Lent, Easter is the perfect time for us to introduce Tynt Meadow Blond, as we know it will pair perfectly with the lighter, brighter days of Spring and Summer.”
Tynt Meadow Blond is only currently available on presale via msbtrappist.co.uk/buy
It will be available in-store from 1st April at the Mount Saint Bernard Abbey shop as well as other reputable retailers.
